On Wednesday, we will have our Epiphany Mass. All students are encouraged to leave their uniforms home and dress up! Epiphany commemorates the revelation of Jesus as the son of God, especially to the Three Wise Men, distinguished foreigners also known as the Biblical Magi. Epiphany Eve, or 12th night, marks the last night of the 12 days of Christmas. Usually starting on or around January 6, the season of Epiphany ends on Ash Wednesday, or the first day of Lent, March 5 this year. Fun fact: King Cake, with its green, purple, and gold jewel-tone colors, symbolizes the Three Wise Mens' (also called kings) arrival, and is traditionally served on Epiphany in New Orleans and throughout the ensuing Mardi Gras season. A small plastic baby Jesus is hidden inside and the person who finds it is said to receive good luck in the coming year.
